We arrived in Greensboro for a dryer vent cleaning but found a dangerous situation in the crawlspace. The existing run was mostly plastic venting which caused a serious lint blockage. This plastic venting is not fire resistant and should never be used for dryer exhaust. We removed the existing vent and replaced it with rigid piping. We sealed up the pipe with a high-temperature mastic tape and secured with metal straps. The new system is much more efficient and the customer will see noticeable savings on her energy bill.
The Old System
The existing vent was duct taped together. The weight of the lint trapped inside caused the line to break.
The ribs in the plastic venting causes lint to build up and get trapped. This material is not fire resistant and is a major hazard!
The New System
Our rigid pipe is smooth inside allowing lint to pass through and not build up as fast.
