We found this semi rigid vent separated in the crawlspace. Unknown to the homeowners, they continued to run the dryer over a period of time. What a mess! We removed some of the old dryer venting and ran a rigid pipe through this tight crawlspace. Finished off with an all metal vent cap. We love these vent caps, it is pretty much impossible for a bird or rodent to get in.
Lint Explosion!
This flexible pipe collapsed at some point. This is a perfect example of why not to vent a dryer directly into the crawlspace.
More lint!
It is hard to describe how much lint spread throughout this crawlspace. This picture is about 10 feet from the previous.
Dont use this
This was the transition line behind the dryer. This is why you do not use flexible duct behind a dryer. Crushed!
finished run
Down the floor and straight across. About 15 feet. Simple, efficient and easy to maintain
Into the floor
Our clean install through the floor
metal vent cap
These vent caps are awesome. Single louver recessed flap will not allow any critters to get in. Doesn't become brittle or broken like the plastic caps.
