Northern Shores is a lake neighborhood on the north side of Greensboro, by Lake Jeanette. Crawlspaces, brick, dryers that get used. We were in a few of those houses this year.
This job is why we look under the house, not just at the cover. The builder never connected the dryer vent to the outside. The machine blew lint under the house for over a decade. The vapor barrier was a gray blanket. We cleaned it until we could work, then hung metal duct with mastic and metal strapping.

Behind the dryer and at the cover
On another house the old stub sat tight against a thick baseboard. You could not get a real connection on it. We put on a metal elbow so the transition actually seats.
We also pulled a pile of lint onto the pine straw under the cover, then cleaned that up. Inside the pipe it was coated with lint and hair. After a pass the metal was clean and you could see through.
The crawlspace was a dryer vent repair, not a brush-and-go. If you feel heat under the house when the dryer runs, or the pipe behind the machine will not seat, we should look at it.
