Mackintosh on the Lake: Community Showcase

Mackintosh on the Lake is the planned community on the east side of Burlington, off I-40/85 near Lake Mackintosh. The Cove, Aberdeen, and the rest of the sections are mostly two-story homes, brick and vinyl.

Two-story homes put the dryer vent in hard places. High on a brick wall or out through the roof. Most people never see the cover, so nobody knows it is packed until the dryer starts taking two cycles. Behind the dryer

We pull the dryer out and look at the short hose between the machine and the wall. Out here it is often crushed flat. Crush it and you cut off the airflow. Dry times go long and the heat stays in the machine.

Birds and wasps in the bathroom vents

From the roof

Some of these homes vent through the roof. We run the brush up the line until it comes out the cover. That is the shot on the banner. When the brush comes out the top, the line is open.

Can a crushed transition hose cause long dry times?

Yes. The hose gets pushed flat when the dryer goes back against the wall and the air has nowhere to go. The vent can be clean and the dryer still runs long.
